New Leaders Program

The shift from individual contributor to front-line leader is a major transition for which many people are not adequately prepared. The transition can go on long after the leader has begun in his or her new role. A poor transition can be costly. Potential problems include:

a decline in productivity;
negative impact on the performance of others in the organization;
loss of credibility and future opportunities for the new leader.

Each leader’s experience is unique, but there are commonalities. Leaders enter this transition with similar frames of reference. They go through many of the same experiences, and encounter somewhat predictable opportunities and challenges.

Each leader needs clarify their own situation, understand their capabilities, and build a personal plan to be a better leader. Self-development is a challenging, ongoing commitment that demands constant attention and effort. To succeed, new leaders need to have a plan, act on that plan, and follow-up consistently to ensure they progress toward outcomes that they and their organizations want.

As a result of participating in this program:

Participants' leadership competence will grow.
They will join a network of peers that works collaboratively and supportively.
They will step up to critical business challenges and opportunities that are present in your organization.
Leadership bench strength in your organization will deepen.

The New Leaders Program was developed by the Key Consulting Group, in Calgary, and is jointly offered with Leap! Corporation.
